SPOTLIGHT – Sharyn Nasmith, Certified Holistic Nutritionist
We always are the ones asking the questions, so sometimes we like to turn it around for a little Q & A with the Practitioners.
Meet Sharyn…
What motivated you to become a holistic nutritionist?
I was initially drawn to holistic nutrition after battling some of my own health issues and finding that the cure was not in a magic pill or fad diet. I learned instead that the way back to health involved making lasting healthy changes in all areas of my life, using nutrition as medicine to heal and balance my body from the inside out. Once I realized the positive effect that these changes had on my quality of life, energy levels and overall health – I knew that I wanted to help others achieve the same benefits.
Special interests within practice?
Hormone balance, Digestive health, Women’s health
What is the best part of your job?
Hands down, it’s getting to empower my clients and watch them transform inside and out as they form a healthy mind-body connection and learn that healthy eating can be easy and enjoyable.
Favourite place you have travelled to?
In 2012, a couple of friends and I rented a jeep and set out on a two week road trip from San Diego to San Francisco, California – the trip itself was one of the most memorable ones of my life but I especially fell in love with the beauty of Big Sur as well as the giant Sequoia trees at Sequoia National Park.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Besides everything and anything (healthy) food-related, I am a huge outdoors girl – I absolutely love to be in nature, whether it’s camping, biking, hiking, photography or walking my dog in the trails – as long as I’m outside, I am happy. I also enjoy yoga and I recently tried Stand Up Paddle Boarding, which is quickly becoming a new hobby.
Favourite Movie?
I love movies – so narrowing it down to a favourite is near impossible. Pretty much every early Disney movie is on the list—But the one movie I could literally watch over and over and laugh every time like it’s the first, is Dumb & Dumber.
If you could have any superpower what would it be?
Telekinesis. It would be incredible to be able to communicate with animals and also understand what a person or animal is really thinking or feeling, without even speaking.
If you could have dinner with any 3 people (alive or dead) who would they be?
Mahatma Gandhi, Paulo Coelho, Brene Browne
